Readers that know me personally may be familiar with my love for the ‘shop local’ movement. I grew up in small-town Pennsylvania where shopping local was a way of life. Sure, we had Walmart (with horse & buggy parking, obviously,) but my high school was only minutes away from the “Coolest Small Town in America” and our produce often came from Amish-owned roadside stands/Mennonite-owned markets.
So, it’s not much of a surprise that I sought out small shops and locally-owned businesses when I moved to Baltimore. I find something extremely gratifying about trafficking my business to quality products and authentic people. What I didn’t know, however, was how many great businesses call Baltimore home.
With the holidays coming up, I’m encouraging you all to take a look at the local brands and small businesses in your area. They’re the perfect place to find unique gifts for a wide-range of prices, and when you ‘shop local’, you’re giving back to your community and the hard-working people within it!
So without further ado, HERE are some of the great Charm city shops + Baltimore brands you should check out for this upcoming Holiday Season (and for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and special events to come!)

To be honest, I hadn’t heard of Three Leaves Co before starting this post. I’m not proud of that fact, because after discovering their Instagram account + website through a fellow blogger and business woman (Brittany at @WightTeaCo!), I fell in love with their tees. And even better, the company is rooted in Maryland – what’s not to love?! As an avid adventurer, I can say these graphic tees would make the perfect holiday gift for the wanderlust, tree-hugger, and/or outdoors(wo)man in your life!

Treason Toting Co., with a store front in Fells Point, has quickly become a notable brand in Baltimore by providing customers quality canvas bags to #carryyourstories. From work to weekend, there’s a bag for every one. My personal favorite is The Charles (in Maroon). Check out their selection + support this local business (literally local, all bags are made in City Garage in Port Covington) this Holiday season.

Rachel Mulherin jewelry is the definition of glam. I came across her Instagram not long after I moved to Baltimore, and I’ve been obsessed with her pieces ever since. Her pieces are meant to easily transition from day-to-night. Recently, I’ve been crushing hard on her chokers – definitely on my gift wishlist this Holiday season!

Resolve Jewelry is new on my radar, but I’m quickly falling in love with the handmade pieces they offer. Along with studs, hoops, and necklaces, Resolve owner Esra also offers interesting twista on accessories. For example, the ella – a piece jewelry that attaches to a lace garter and hangs out from underneath your clothing, along your thigh. Resolve also does custom pieces – be sure to check out her gallery!

LOOK AT THIS CUTTING BOARD! I am in love. Gifts for the home are often one of my go-to purchases for friends and extended family. I strive for gifts that are both practical and decorative, and this cutting board definitely fits the bill. Words with Boards, run my a Baltimore-couple with a studio in Hampden, personalizes cutting boards, wine racks, and trivets with names, words, images – anything you can imagine. They can be used for kitchen decoration, entertaining (think charcuterie), or even wall decorations (here, think outside the box.)
Words with Boards was nice enough to send me a cutting board of my own – thank you, thank you, thank you! The board is such high quality – thick and sturdy wood – perfect for a kitchen that gets a lot of use. I am BEYOND exciting to make some meals with it. These personalized touches on traditional household items make great gifts, so be sure to check them out! Need another reason? They even made the “THE O LIST” in Oprah Winfrey’s iconic list of her “Favorite Things” 2015 issue of O Magazine.

B.Willow is another awesome company to look out for. Known for their terrariums, and terrarium-building workshops, B.Willow is about to get it’s own store-front in Remington. But until then, a seat at a workshop could make a great gift for any holiday or special occasion. Or, if you’re feeling a little less crafty, head to Brightside Boutique or Trohv to pick up a pre-assembled one! Seriously, how cute are they?!

Rowhouse 14 is a home-based studio in Baltimore offering ‘witty, stylish, and hilarious stationary goods‘. Be sure to check out their pencils, cards, and gift wrap on their WEBSITE or ETSY SHOP for #ShopSmallSaturday and #CyberMonday!

Warm up the winter months by giving the gift of tea this Holiday season! Wight Tea Co. is Baltimore-based and was started by two Baltimore-raised siblings. Admittedly, I’m more of a coffee person, but I do enjoy my occasional cup of tea. And I’m dying to try this Sage Rose White tea (mainly because of this photo and it’s description on Wight Tea Co.’s website.) High-quality teas can surely make high-quality gifts. Check out the rest of their selection HERE!

Not only does Baltimore do juice, beer, coffee, food – but they also now do rye. I’m a big fan of brown liquors so I was happy to hear that Sagamore Spirits has recently opened a distillery in Port Covington! Now you can get a bottle of Rye (or 5) as a gift for friends or co-workers + you can pick some up for those Holiday parties you’re hosting/attending. Click HERE to find the bottle closest to you!

Baltimore is home to a ton of local beer – don’t know what to get dad? co-worker? Pick ’em up a six pack or growler of your favorite Baltimore brews from one of the dope breweries located all over the city!
Before you go giving all these gifts, you gotta wrap ’em right?! Tbh, I think this might be the most exciting part – I have the blessing of being the designated gift-wrapper at home during the Holidays. But, sometimes wrapping paper can get boring and hand-written tags, although adorable, can get old. So, to shop local AND spruce up your gift-wrapping game this year, check out…
