Once upon a time, I was searching for the perfect recipe for mac & cheese. As someone who likes cheese but finds ‘mac and cheese’ often overdone and poorly executed, I was impressed when I found one that looked simple, appealing, and relatively user-friendly. I clicked on the link and started reading the page:
“Once upon a time, there was a girl who just wanted creamy, cheesy mac and cheese. Not full of spices or fancy things, just plain ol’ gooey mac and cheese that she could make herself.”
Life. Goals. If you saw my face you would’ve thought I found my soulmate. Well, turns out, That Which Nourishes is my food blog-mate. I’m making that a thing now.
Alison and Addie’s recipes are delicious; and if you’ve scrolled through Pinterest, you’ve likely seen their recipe for THE Mac & Cheese alllll over the place (for good reason.) So, it’s no wonder that I stumbled on this viral-sensation of a recipe — and I wanted to pass it along to all of you in case you HAVEN’T come across it yourself!
I originally made it for a work potluck; my co-workers loved it so I decided to try it out on my mom when I was home for a weekend. She LOVED it and requested I make it for Christmas dinner. My family loved it; and the rest was history. I would say I make variations of this recipe at least once every few months (either out of request or cravings.) I usually add different meats or ingredients — brown sugar bacon is what my family always requests, but I’ve also done BBQ chicken, pulled pork, and veggies.
SO — check it out. If you have an event coming up, or are just itching to try something new in the kitchen, this is the perfect recipe for some simple, delicious mac and cheese.
