Now I know I wrote an entire post dedicated to the tacos joints we loved in Miami, but I swear we ate more than just Mexican food….
Right around the corner from our AirBnB was Espanola Way, a quaint alleyway lined with al fresco cafes and restaurants. This European-inspired area captivated me the moment my feet touched it’s cobblestone ground. Stepping onto Espanola Way is like stepping back in time; the classic architecture has remained seemingly untouched amidst the iconic, art-deco revolution of South Beach, Miami. I can’t help but imagine all the change those buildings have witnessed in South Beach.
One of those ornate buildings houses Havana 1957, a Cuban restaurant complete with authentic music and the greatest mojitos I’ve ever had. Our host, Jack, suggested the restaurant when we first arrived. We already had our reservations for WATR Rooftop on Friday night, but we had no dinner plans on Saturday evening. So after a couple hours at the beach, and a much needed nap, we decided to check out the restaurant located within walking distance of our AirBnB.
Both Kris and I opted for Cuban sandwiches (it would’ve been sacrilegious to order anything else at such a place) and mojitos (his kiwi, mine strawberry.) I don’t go out of my way to order Cuban sandwiches up north; but after eating at Havana 1957, my bar is set ridiculously high for this Miami staple.
Our AirBnB was in the heart of South Beach (highly suggest our host, Jack, if you’re looking for a quick trip to South Beach!), and it was a ~45 min drive from FLL to our AirBnB. Get more of our travel details HERE.
