Looking for something to do in D.C. this weekend? Well, it should come as no surprise I have another D.C. brunch suggestion for y’all. Sometimes I think I can act like a bit of a queen, but I can’t even begin to compare to the queens at D.C. Drag Brunch, held at the Dirty Martini in Dupont Circle.
I’ll preface this post by saying this was my first experience at a drag show (clearly it’s not my first experience with brunch…) Kris was my faithful companion for the Saturday adventure, mainly because he’s a seasoned pro when it comes to attending drag shows — and I needed my resident RuPaul guru to guide me through the experience.
This D.C. Drag Brunch features a buffet, 2 drink tickets, music, and some talented DMV area drag-queens. Be fair-warned, it’s cash only. You must make a reservation ahead of time for your party, but be sure to bring cash ($40) to pay when you arrive.
Which brings me to my next point about cash: apparently it’s really important to bring $1 bills to a drag show. Who knew? Everyone. Except me. Lesson learned on that one — there were a couple queens that were FIRE, and I wish I had more cash to give them during their killer performances. I guess that just means I have to go back to a drag show again soon to redeem myself…
Our brunch featured a handful of drag queens, my personal favorite being Brooklyn Heights. She’s definitely edgier than the “traditional” drag I learned about throughout the rest of the show — but I am obsessed with her. I also found out that she’s from the DMV area and often performs in Baltimore (at Points South Latin Kitchen’s Drag Brunch!)
