STAYCATION AT LIVE! HOTEL AND CASINO

Dinner and a show....with spa time, brunch, and a little gambling thrown in there. I'm recapping my staycation at Live! Hotel and Casino with Kris.

This post is Live! No really, this post is all about Live! Casino & Hotel. I’ve done a handful of staycations around Baltimore, but recently, I ventured out of the city to one of the top food and entertainment destinations in Maryland. And I'm telling you all about it!

It was quite a weekend of adventure for us. Friday night, Kris and I checked out a new restaurant menu and spent time with some of my new classmates in Fells Point. Saturday afternoon, we checked in to our room at the Live! Hotel (after some shopping at Arundel Mills, of course.) We had quite the busy night lined up - spa appointments, dinner, and a show. We've never been good at staying still....

CHECK-IN

Upon check-in, we got all the details for our stay. I had signed up for a Live! Rewards Card, so I received my Reward cards, spa menu, and tickets for our show when checking in to our room. Visitors can use their Rewards Cards to redeem self-comps for drinks and dining at the hotel, as well as on the casino floor. I would definitely suggest signing up – this is how we paid for all of our drinks and food without worrying about carrying around credit cards, etc. My wallet didn’t leave the hotel room – all I needed was my Rewards card + my ID. It was a blessing. Pro Tip: If the value on your card doesn’t cover your total, you will need a credit/debit card to pay the difference. Carrying cash to tip servers is also a good plan.

LIVE! SPA

THE highlight of our staycation was our time at the Live! Spa. Hands down. I’ve been to a few spas before – all lovely – but the Spa at Live! was truly an experience worth sharing. After checking in to the hotel, Kris and I were really excited to be pampered at the spa. We checked into our appointment, and the staff promptly showed us around the facilities. A zen, co-ed relaxation room complete with water, tea, and snacks. Individual locker rooms with additional quiet spaces, steam room, showers, toiletries.

I met Kris in the relaxation room while we waited for our appointments. Although this was not my first time at a spa, it was my first facial so I was hesitant with regard to what was about to happen. As we made our way back to the treatment room, my esthetician, Gina, detailed the process of the custom phyto-organic facial. She was the key to making my experience at the Spa not only enjoyable, but memorable. The head and shoulder massages were much needed, but in addition, Gina educated me about my skin. She informed me of characteristics of my skin and suggested a skincare regimen that would benefit my slightly dry skin. Definitely recommend requesting her, if possible!

Meanwhile, Kris’ Pure Skin Performance facial – a Just For Men offering – was tailored for his skin. After our individual treatments, we met in the relaxation for another cup of tea – and to confer about how fresh and light our skin felt! I wish I could wake up every morning as refreshed and relaxed as I felt after this facial. You can check out more offerings by the Live! Spa via their menu.

DINNER & A SHOW

After relaxing a bit post-facial, we headed to our 7:30PM dinner reservation at David’s. Prior to our visit to David’s, I saw friends posting their meal highlights on Instagram. That being said, I knew we had to order the epic Fried Mozzarella Stack….and you know it looked good if a girl who doesn’t eat much of anything fried or filled with cheese had to order it. It lived up to all expectations, but as always, we ordered WAY too much food haha. A bottle of rosé, 2 appetizers, and 2 entrees later, our stomachs were tapped out.

And although we didn’t order it for dinner, THEY SERVE BREAKFAST ALL-DAY. Or if you want to eat breakfast at a more reasonable time of day, brunch is a great option for those of you not staying in the hotel, looking to check out the David’s menu. Better yet, if you need a post-work libation, they’ve even got a Happy Hour. Best part? The Fried Mozzarella Stack is on the menu. Winning.

After dinner, we went back upstairs to change (and digest) before heading to Thunder from Down Under at 10PM. Live! Hotel and Casino has endless show options for those looking to do dinner and a show, check their event CALENDAR for details on the headlining acts and to purchase tickets!

BRUNCH

After a late night making our rounds to the casino’s bars, and a little slot play, we had an amazing brunch at David’s and grabbed a cup of coffee at Luckies. Highly recommend.

Overall, it was really fun to escape the city — and my recent grad school responsibilities — for a little bit. And it’s always nice sharing new experiences one of my best friends! But even after winning $40, I think it’s safe to say I’m still not much of a gambler. Slots were the extent of my evening; but hey, $40 is $40, right??
