If you've been following along with my recent adventures on Instagram, you'd know that I attended the North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference in Indianapolis at the beginning of this month. It was an awesome career experience, and my first 'professional' conference (outside of the student conferences I attended as an undergraduate.) I even got to present a poster summarizing a project that I've been working on recently, studying the genetics of a chronic respiratory syndrome observed in non-human primates.
In true Taylor spirit, I wanted to do some urban exploring while in Indy. I did my research on some cool places to check out during the conference breaks. I came across City Market and was automatically intrigued. Is there a more "Taylor" sounding place than a 'city market'? I think not.
Reminiscent of Columbus' North Market, Indy's City Market is contains 25+ local, artisan vendors and is home to some of the city's restaurants, brands, and people! The historic building was filled with color and locals on their lunch breaks; the Market is two stories, the second of which houses a bar (with local beers on tap) and a Square Mile Coffee. Funny story about Square Mile Coffee - my GPS definitely did not make it easy for us to find. But after 3 circles around the block and some advice from a stranger to help us find it (....after we'd already been in the Market) I had a soy vanilla latte in hand. In my element.
I wore loud colors and a couple bold prints to explore City Market with Lauren from Daymark Studios, all of which made the dreary afternoon all the more exciting. Fun fact: She's from Upstate NY (and I went to RIT) so we bonded over the weather because it seemed all too familiar.
